First, let’s initiation with the packaging. It’s no-hassle, pre-perforated plastic encasing the product. Although if you try to open it the predictable way (sharp knife, cutter, scissors) through the front of the plastic case, that will also work. Logitech made sure you can open this with only your fingers if you turn the package over to the back. Excellent thinking.

Now let’s talk about the audio adapter itself. It’s a small: approximately a 3″ x 3″ x 1″ box with a push-button bluetooth connect button and a red/green operational LED. Here is the predictable RCA (red/white) audio connector on the back as well as a 3.5mm single input (like on your ipod headphone jack). The adapter comes with a power jack and a RCA to 3.5mm input/output wire. You can use either jack as an output to your speaker/system. This is by far the simplest adapter to hook up to whatever speaker/system I’ve used. It’s a 3-step process: 1) plug in adapter to vehicle, 2) plug in input/output wire to your speaker/system, 3) push the bluetooth button and wirelessly connect your music player (I use my iMac, but apparently any bluetooth enabled device will work).

The music instantly plays to your speaker/system, and the LED goes from red to green. In my case, I’m playing iTunes from my iMac to my Yamaha 5.1 Stereo system. The only hard part for me is to update my audio settings on my Yamaha to sound the best. I notice no real difference in the sound quality directly out of my iMac than my Yamaha–my Yamaha obviously has much better speakers, but the cadence and volume levels are not unnatural by the wireless transfer. Audiophiles may disagree, but from this musician (voice and trombone), I can’t tell any difference.

The whole process took less than 60-seconds of connecting wires from the adapter to my stereo system and between my iMac wirelessly. This is really a fantastic product! I highly recommend.

This clever modest device allows you to transfer audio from your Bluetooth device and output it to another source (i.e. a home theater system). This allows for convenience when you want to play your MP3 collection through your home theater system, but don’t want to go through the hassle of hooking up wires. The complex of this device is quite unadorned; just plug up the device using the A/C adapter plug one end of the built-in audio cable to the adapter, and the additional in to the “Audio in” plug on the device you want to transfer the sound to. Then just pair your device (provided it’s compatible) using the connect button on the adapter and then searching for devices using your Bluetooth enabled device. Once your device recognizes the adapter, just connect to it and enter the code of 0000 if questioned. When the light on the adapter turns green, that means you are successfully together and ready to delight in some wireless music.

But, I have been unsuccessful in getting this device to work with my Samsung Captivate (AT&T’s version of the Galaxy S). While I’m able to pair the two devices with no conundrum, all I ever get on my phone is a “paired, but not together” message. I have verified that this phone does have the required services needed for Bluetooth audio, but for some reason this Logitech wireless adapter and the Samsung Galaxy S just do not play well together. Many attempts to contact Logitech technical support have been unsuccessful and I have given up on tiresome to get this to work properly with my phone.

To be honest but, this device does work fantastic with my laptop which has a Bluetooth dongle attached. I have tested it on using Winamp, as well as some Youtube videos and the sound is wirelessly transferred to my home theatre speakers. I noticed no sound degradation with either but of way at privileged volumes you may initiation to notice some distortion. But with my receiver I didn’t recognize any.

My only complaint is that it is not compatible with all capable Bluetooth audio devices as the description would have you to believe and I have yet to find a unadorned list of compatible (or incompatible) devices on the web and for now it looks to be simply trial and error. Because of the lack of documentation on supported manufacturers and/or devices, all I can tell you is that it works fine if it’s compatible with your device. But it’s quite possible that it won’t work and you will have to end up returning it.

If it worked with my phone, it would easily be a 4 star product, but due to the sort of ambiguous advertisement of its compatible with virtually any device and the lack of documentation regarding supported and non-supported devices, I have to knock it down to a 3.
